Preparations is the second mission of Rise of the Black Dogs, a campaign exclusive to the Nintendo 64. It portrays the Black Dogs setting up a new command base to prepare for their eventual return to Earth.

Details

Preparations takes place on the site of the same CCA research outpost destroyed by the Black Dogs in the previous mission, though since the Recycler has to set up at the geyser where the outpost was originally constructed it is unable to take advantage of the natural defenses provided by the crater cluster.

Synopsis

Now certain in their knowledge of collusion between the NSDF and CCA, the Black Dogs realize they are on their own and set up a base at the site of the research outpost to use as a launch site come their eventual return to Earth to reveal the conspiracy.

Cobra One, who is on-site, is guided through constructing the base and forces for offense and defense. As they are doing this they were notified that the Soviets are believed to be constructing their own base and ordered to destroy it. They have barely neutralized its defenses when they are alerted to an NSDF attack force already en-route and redirected to eliminating it.

Once the attackers have been fought off Cobra One is returned to building the base. Once it is built to specification, Shaw orders Cobra One to Mars on a sensitive mission of unspecified nature.
