Braddock is a short story written by Andrew Goeldel as part of his Uncle Avatar's Storytime collection.[1] It was published in July 2005 as a companion story to Goeldel's earlier story Burns, and features a young Armond Braddock and Frank Burns as they first meet.

Synopsis[]

Braddock touches down on Titan to inspect an NSDF base that has recently survived a Fury attack, where he is met by a Black Dog platoon led by Frank Burns. Burns escorts him to a nearby captured CCA base, presumably the source of the Fury attack.

Braddock is escorted directly to the base's laboratory, where he acquaints himself with the records and equipment and requests the captured scientists be delivered to him. Against regulations, and Burns' protests, he demands the guard be posted outside the room.

Burns submits, acknowledging that his orders from General Collins were to follow Braddock's orders, and despite his concerns escorts the prisoners to Braddock and stands guard outside.

Several hours later Burns confers with Private Smith, who Braddock had asked to deliver food. Smith comments that the scientists, who previously had been calm and analytical while watching the Black Dogs defeat their Furies and stoic under torture by his Sergeant, seemed terrified. Burns realises that the only thing different about their current circumstance is Braddock's presence.
