Battlezone Wiki

The Battlezone Version Archive is a collection of past versions of Battlezone games that aims to catalogue the contents of every version of every Battlezone game ever released. It is run by Ded10c and the Heracles Brigade.

The Version Archive is run on two desktop PCs which between them have all of the archive's versions of the Battlezone games installed. These versions exist for two reasons. Firstly, this allows developers and community archivists - such as those of the Battlezone Wiki - to use these versions as a reference; many of the older versions of Battlezone would be difficult, if not impossible, to run on a modern PC and would require specialized period hardware. Secondly, this allows mods for these old versions of the game to be easily explored in a sandboxed environment, a useful tool in updating them to the 1.5 patch or Battlezone 98 Redux.

The archive currently maintains several versions of the Battlezone games, listed as follows:

  • Battlezone (1980) (emulated)
  • Bradley Trainer (emulated)
  • Battlezone 2000 (Atari Lynx) (emulated)
  • Battlezone 2000 (BBC Micro) (emulated)
  • Battlezone (1998) (0.7 CD demo, 0.7 demo, 0.8 beta, 1.0, 1.0 demo, 1.0 gold, 1.4 Asia Pacific, 1.4 Xplosiv, 1.5+)
  • Battlezone: Battle Grounds (all versions)
  • Battlezone: The Red Odyssey (all versions)
  • Battlezone II: Combat Commander (Demo, 1.0, 1.01b, 1.1, 1.2+)
  • Battlezone: Rise of the Black Dogs
  • Battlezone (2007)
  • Battlezone (2008)
  • Battlezone 98 Redux
